Hardware Requirements
Your development setup needs to handle VR content creation smoothly. We've tested these specifications extensively with our students across Australia, and they represent the sweet spot between performance and affordability.
- Processor: Intel i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600 (6 cores minimum)
- Graphics Card: NVIDIA GTX 1060 6GB or AMD RX 580 8GB
- Memory: 16GB RAM DDR4 (32GB recommended for complex scenes)
- Storage: 256GB SSD with 1TB additional storage space
- USB Ports: At least 3 USB 3.0 ports for VR headset connectivity
Software Environment
Our curriculum works with industry-standard tools that you'll encounter in professional VR development. Most of these tools offer free versions or educational licenses.
- Unity 2022.3 LTS or newer (Personal edition works perfectly)
- Visual Studio Community 2022 for C# scripting
- Blender 3.6+ for 3D modeling and animation
- Git for version control (we'll teach you this too)
- Steam VR or Oculus software depending on your headset

Quest 2, Quest 3, and Quest Pro. Standalone development and PC tethering supported. Perfect for beginners due to wireless capabilities and growing market share.
HTC Vive Family
Vive, Vive Pro, and Vive Cosmos. Excellent tracking precision for room-scale experiences. Great for educational institutions and professional development.
Windows Mixed Reality
HP Reverb, Samsung Odyssey, and other WMR headsets. Budget-friendly option with decent resolution. Good starting point for PC-based VR development.
